Travel Planning

I started taking travel more seriously when I did my first solo backpacking trip across Western Europe. In order to assure my dad of my safety as a solo traveler, I had to plan my transportation, lodging, and activities carefully. Before I left for my first city, I sent him my full itinerary and I promised to stay in touch every three days. That way, if he didn't hear from me, he knew my last location.

Even though this might sound restrictive, I was able to reserve many things in advance, including the hard-to-get tickets. Most of all, various constraints allow me to be more creative, and strangely, there is a good amount of flexibility that can arise from a well-planned trip, as long as I stay open to changes.

When our son was 9 weeks old, we embarked on a 96-day adventure across Europe. I recorded every laughter and tears in the following blog:

Wedding Planning

I had the opportunity to plan and execute my own wedding with the help of family and friends. One of my most thankful moments was the opportunity to sew my own wedding dress with the help of my mother-in-law. I did not know how to sew when I first started the project, but I was determined to learn and to create something I would truly cherish. I am thankful that the 60 hours of work in a span of a month paid off! The one dress turned into three different styles, and I was able to wear all three styles at the ceremony, the welcome part of the reception, and the dance.

In addition to the dress, I also designed and created my own stationery, including the "passport" program that allowed our guests to mingle with each other through a game involving themselves.

You can take a peek at a small part of my journey in the following blog:

Scrapbooking

One of the things I love about my life experiences is the memories that are created from them. Social media makes it easy for us to remember those times through Facebook's "Remember where you were 4 years ago?" and online photos. Before this online miracle, however, I collected, collated, and treasured these memories in a form of a scrapbook.

As it turned out, the scrapbook was very useful for the wedding. We did not have engagement pictures to share with our guests. Instead, we had scrapbooks of our relationship through the 9 years we were together before the  wedding.

In addition to those precious early-relationship memories, I also kept scrapbooks of my travel journey. They include museum tickets, postcards I sent to myself, and notes from the people I met through my travels. Scrapbooking allows me to be creative, organized, and romantic. I am currently working on a new scrapbook for my children.
